Indian Government asks Media not to show LIVE telecast of Defence Forces

Government of India Issues Advisory: No Live Coverage of Defense Operations After Pahalgam Attack

In the last few hours, some very important developments have taken place that every citizen should be aware of. The Government of India has issued a strong advisory to the Indian media: “No live coverage of defense operations.” This comes after the Pahalgam terror attack, highlighting serious national security concerns.

Why This Advisory?

The advisory clearly mentions that in the past — during the Kargil War, the Mumbai terror attacks (26/11), and the Kandahar hijacking — live and unrestricted media coverage compromised critical defense operations. Terrorist masterminds often gained real-time information about troop movements through live news broadcasts, endangering the lives of Indian security forces.

To prevent such situations from repeating, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting emphasized that any live telecast of anti-terrorist operations would violate the Cable Television Networks Rules, 2021. All television channels have been advised strictly not to telecast live coverage of military or security operations in the interest of national security.

Public Response and Parallel Issues

Public reaction has largely been positive. Many citizens commented that instead of focusing on live coverage for TRP gains, the media should work on exposing illegal immigration issues within India.

Recently, Gujarat Police detained thousands of suspected Bangladeshi nationals who had illegally entered India. Since Law and Order is a State subject, the central government can only intervene to a limited extent. State police forces must take the lead in cracking down on illegal immigrants.

Navy and Army Post Cryptic Messages

Adding further intrigue, both the Indian Army and the Indian Navy posted cryptic messages on social media.
The Indian Army posted:
“Always Prepared. Ever Vigilant.”

Meanwhile, the Indian Navy posted:
“Power in Unity. Presence with Purpose. Mission Ready: Anytime, Anywhere, Anyhow.”

Such synchronized messaging between the Army and Navy is rare and has raised questions:
Is India preparing for a blockade in the Arabian Sea?
Is a larger military operation imminent?

While there are no clear answers yet, it is evident that India is planning something significant in response to the escalating situation.

Diplomatic Efforts in Full Swing

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is actively engaging with foreign ministers around the world.
His communications have emphasized counter-terrorism cooperation and the cross-border linkages of the Pahalgam attack.

  • He has thanked Egypt for their solidarity.
  • He discussed the situation with the Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia.
  • Clear evidence linking the attack to Pakistani elements is being shared internationally.

Pakistan’s Panicked Response

Pakistan’s initial reaction was complete denial, accusing India of staging the Pahalgam attack.
Even former Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah pointed out Pakistan’s contradictory statements.

Later, under increasing international pressure, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made a statement offering a “neutral and transparent investigation,” which only highlighted Pakistan’s panic and confusion.
First denying the incident, and then calling for an investigation, has exposed their vulnerability.

Interestingly, no major country — not even Turkey or Azerbaijan — has come forward to support Pakistan’s stance. Global silence speaks volumes.

Conclusion: A Measured Response This Time

It is clear that India is not rushing into action.
Instead, lessons from past experiences are being applied carefully. A well-thought-out and powerful response seems inevitable.

Unlike previous incidents, this time India is taking time, strategizing, and ensuring that when action comes, it is effective, justified, and globally understood.
