Title: The Situation in West Bengal – A Wake-Up Call for National Unity and Progress
All eyes are currently on West Bengal. In a time when many influencers and platforms claiming neutrality are ignoring this issue, it becomes even more important for responsible citizens to discuss what’s really happening in our country.
As concerned Indians, it’s our duty to see the broader picture – think like an Indian first.
What’s Happening in West Bengal?
Recently, serious violence broke out in West Bengal, resulting in the death of three individuals and the arrest of over 150 people. The situation escalated to such an extent that the Kolkata High Court had to urge the Central Government to deploy central forces, acknowledging that the State Government was unable to manage law and order.
Law and order is a state subject, but when things spiral out of control, the judiciary can ask the Centre to intervene – and that’s exactly what happened here.
A BJP MP even called for imposing AFSPA in four districts, showing how dire the situation has become.
The Bigger Picture: How This Affects India’s Image
Now imagine this through the eyes of a foreign investor. Just as many global companies are looking to shift their manufacturing base away from China, India stands as a potential alternative. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal himself called this a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” for India.
But what image are we portraying?
Violence, instability, and political conflicts will only push investors away to countries like Vietnam or the Philippines. We must realize that these incidents not only affect local governance but also harm the economic future of the entire country.
West Bengal’s Untapped Potential
West Bengal hosted the Bengal Global Business Summit, with investment proposals worth ₹4.4 lakh crore. These are just proposals – and for them to turn into actual investments, we must project a stable and safe environment.
Sadly, despite its rich potential, West Bengal ranks very low in terms of state domestic product – far behind even smaller states and union territories. Why? Because industries and investors stay away when there’s poor law and order.
The Importance of Unity
I urge everyone, irrespective of religion or region – think like an Indian.
Avoid spreading hate on social media. Don’t fall into the trap set by divisive elements, including fake accounts from across borders trying to instigate Indians against each other.
Remember: Violence is never the answer.
Disagreements and protests can happen in a democracy, but they must remain peaceful and constitutional. Anything else damages the fabric of our nation.
India and the Rule of Law
India ranks 79th on the World Justice Project’s Rule of Law Index – behind countries like Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Indonesia. That’s a wake-up call. If we truly want to grow, prosper, and become a global economic hub, we must prioritize law and order and ensure justice systems work efficiently.
This is not just about West Bengal. Similar issues exist in several Indian states. And if we want our next generation to have a brighter future – better jobs, better infrastructure, and improved living standards – investments are key. For investments, we need stability.
Let’s Stand Together
It is my humble request to all of you – always think of the broader picture before posting, sharing, or reacting to news. Will your words help or harm national unity?
Let’s ensure that in this crucial moment of opportunity for India, we show the world that we are united, peaceful, and forward-looking.
